All grandfather clocks are mechanical, having been invented when the word "electronic" was not even coined, not to talk about "digital". Grandfather clocks have always been things of beauty more than mere timepieces. They are not your atomic clocks but even so, you can depend on them not only to provide a complete old-world charm to your drawing room or study but also to show the time accurately as long as you wind them at the appropriate time and adhere to its safekeeping measures. Gravity is literally at the center of the working of a grandfather clock. . There is a pendulum at exactly the center of the device. An array of springs attached to the pendulum slowly starts unwinding and weights attached to the pendulum are moved as it moves from one end to the other. Gravitational pull causes the pendulum swing continuously in a back and forth fashion in exactly the same periods of time. The hands thus show the accurate time.
There are weights attached to the pendulum and these weights are to be adjusted every week or as specified by the manufacturers. The pendulum is constantly moving all the time and the weights tend to slowly lose their balance. So it is important that the weights are adjusted to their designated heights. The number of swings determines the speed of the hands and any change can result in the time being thrown off.
The chain driven clocks too require the chains to be moved manually unlike cable driven ones that need a key or a crank to be wound. Instructions on how to do all this are given step by step by the manufacturers. After you adjust the weights, leave them be until the next time you are required to do it.

according to Newton gravity theory the period of a pendulum clock formula is;
T^2 = LENGHT OF PENDULUM DIVIDED BY ACCELERATION DUE TO GRAVITY.
Would it be different if we use Relativity theory?
Super question. Yes but only imperceptibly. In the order of fractions of a nanosecond.
One: the swing of the pendulum is affected by the force of gravity. The higher the elevation the weaker the force gets, the slower the pendulum swings ie; Newtonian physics.
Two, the faster the object the more slowly time moves within it’s relative reference frame; Einsteinian special relativity.
Thirdly, weaker gravitational field yields to a space-time contraction; General Relativity principle.
So even raising the pendulum a few inches will alter it’s rate. But it will only do so to an incredible small and undetectable amount. On the other hand experiments have been done in jet planes using atomic clocks which have demonstrated these theories of our universe to be correct and yes, the atomic clocks did slow down !
Amazingly it only takes a little study of algebra and physics to understand how this is so.
